Aquablation
A novel robotic surgical management for symptomatic prostate enlargement

Aquablation is a new, robotic treatment for benign prostate enlargement (BPE) that combines real-time ultrasound imaging with a heat-free, high-pressure waterjet to precisely remove excess prostate tissue. The procedure is planned and guided by the urologist, then delivered by the AquaBeam robotic system in under 10 minutes (total operating time about 45 minutes).
Unlike traditional heat-based treatments, Aquablation avoids thermal injury, which means faster recovery, very low risk of erectile dysfunction (<1%), and a low rate of dry ejaculation (<10%). Most patients stay overnight with a temporary catheter, which is usually removed the next day.
Aquablation is effective for prostates of almost any size (up to ~150 mL) and has been shown in clinical trials to provide symptom relief comparable to TURP, with better preservation of sexual function.
Dr Silverman is a fellowship trained urologist working in southeast Queensland. He is working towards bringing Aquablation to Australia and currently offers an array of treatments for symptomatic benign prostatic enlargement. If you would like to be added to the waitlist for Aquablation or wish to arrange a consultation please contact the team at Gold Coast Urology.
